Michaela Curcio: Hip Hop & Dance Company Choreographer (AMDA Alumni)

Finding her passion at an early age, Michaela started dancing in 2004 and hasn't been able to stop since. She danced competitively throughout middle and high school and started her role as a Teachers Assistant when she was 14 years old. This later progressed into a head teacher/choreographer role her Junior year of high school.

Michaela is a 2021 graduate from Roger Williams University with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Minor in Dance and Performing Art Studies. Throughout her four years at Roger Williams, she was active in her dance community where she choreographed multiple hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and modern pieces for Dance Club and Dance Theatre. As a college student, she became a Guest Choreographer teaching Hip Hop for competitive teams in the Capital Region such as Art In Motion Dance Academy and Cheer Intensity's Dance Team.

Michaela worked as a Project Engineer for 4 years after college, but after traveling to Europe extensively she now resides in Albany where she is the head of the dance department at the Academy of Holy Names, teaches hip hop and contemporary at three dance studios year-round, trains her teenage dancers for competitions, and leads short session classes for kids, adults, and senior citizens through Albany County Parks & Rec. This is Michaela’s 7th year teaching at AMDA.
