Emily Gunter: Ballet & Modern

Emily is a performing and teaching artist based in New York's capital region. She is a professional modern dancer,Arts in Education Coordinator, and Assistant to the Artistic Director for the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company, resident company of The Egg in Albany. Emily holds her BA in Dance and Classics from Skidmore College. She has performed works by Paul Taylor, Martha Graham, and Ronald K. Brown among others, and has presented original choreography at the Tang Teaching Museum in Saratoga Springs, Engine in Biddeford, Maine, Choreography on the Edge in Kingston & Taghkanic, and Hellenikon Idyllion in Selianitika, Greece. Emily is originally from Hartford, CT and is an avid tap dancer. She joined the faculty at Skidmore College as a Lecturer in Dance in 2024 and is one of the 2025 New York State Choreographers Initiative artists, a funding opportunity administered by The New York State DanceForce and New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). Emily joined AMDA in 2022. She loves to be creative with her students and share positive energy in the studio that radiates confidence outside the studio.
